Make your rhythm

Light a square. Hear the house.

Light up a square to put a sound there. Tap it again for silence. Try two sounds together.

A little starting point
Kept on this device. No account needed.

Try this together. One of you makes two taps. The other makes the house answer. Leave a little silence in between.

For a quieter moment, choose A sleepy house and slow it down. There’s no score and no wrong tune.

Keep listening

Every sound has a story.

This is a free companion experience. Read a story, then come back and make its music.

About these sounds & playing together

Real recordings of hollow metal, tapping wood, a creaking stair and a mechanical clock. The two pipe notes and the two knocks change the pitch of the same recording. All sounds are edited from CC0 sources:

Hollow Metal Pipe Hits by Zott820; Objects_WoodCreak_1.wav by SilentStrikeZ; R20-16-Mechanical Clock Tick-Tocks.wav by craigsmith; Wood Knock by Mrguff.

The game saves only your rhythm and speed in this browser. Sharing makes a link containing that pattern. “Save my music” downloads two repeats as a WAV file. Nothing is recorded from your microphone.

Use Tab to move between instruments and rows. Arrow keys move through the pattern; Enter or Space adds or removes a sound. Playback stops when you leave the tab.
